The project was part of the site’s major redevelopment, which included the installation of Europe’s biggest sand filtration unit during April and May 2018. The plant, which is owned by Anglian Water, processes half of the town’s sewage. To keep the site operational during the upgrade, which saw 30 filters installed using cranes, Polypipe CGU supplied its Ridgidrain as a temporary solution to allow water to be carried from the plant’s silos to a lagoon while work was carried out.
28 lengths of Ridgidrain were specified in 900mm diameter. Made from up to 100% recycled high-strength, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), Ridgidrain comes with integral sockets for easy pipe alignment and has a low friction inner wall for improved hydraulics. Ridgidrain is supplied in 6m lengths, reducing the number of joints and risk of leakage.
