Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation [Polypipe CGU], the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic drainage, sewer, cable protection and water management products, provided 100,000 metres of surface water drainage products (including Ridgidrain and the large-diameter Ridgistorm-XL pipe, gullies and cable protection for street lighting and motorway communications) for 63km of the M25, due to be widened by 2025.

In addition to the Ridgistorm-XL and Ridgidrain Plus products, Polypipe CGU also teamed up with supply and fix partners Stormwater Management Limited to supply three separate off-line attenuation structures using it’s Polystorm modular cell system. These were installed in the soft-verge embankments to control surface water run-off from the carriageway. A total of 9,330 Polystorm cells have been installed between junctions 27 and 30.

“We’ve used the Polystorm cells on many occasions for sustainable drainage projects,” commented Chris Foxton, Chairman at Stormwater Management Limited, “this solution represented the most cost-effective and technically proficient option for the scheme and the ease of installation of the Polystorm cells enabled following trades to continue working on the project which, from the client’s point of view, ensured the construction programme remained on schedule.”

BBA certification of the Polystorm cells also ensured that approvals for the system were granted swiftly, which aided in the overall scheduling of the works on site.
